Deliverability
Deliverability basics
What gets email into the inbox, and the rules Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook enforce.
NeedsTier 1: IndividualNIN or BVN verified. Send from your domain or a sender handle to anyone.
Most of what decides whether your email reaches the inbox is in your hands: a verified domain, mail people asked for, and a clean list.
Before you send
- Send from your own verified domain. It gives you SPF, DKIM and DMARC alignment, which Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook now require from anyone sending in volume. See Add a domain.
- Publish a DMARC record. Start with
v=DMARC1; p=none;and tighten it once your reports are clean. - Keep transactional and marketing mail apart with the
streamfield. Complaints about a newsletter then don't slow down your login codes. - Send both HTML and text. If you send only HTML, we generate the text version.
While you send
- Only email people who asked for it. Bought or scraped lists bring bounces and spam complaints, and our automatic brakes pause sending when they climb.
- Make unsubscribing easy on marketing mail. Gmail and Yahoo require one-click unsubscribe for bulk senders.
- Watch your rates. Keep hard bounces under 2% and spam complaints under 0.1%. The Overview page and
GET /v1/usageshow both.
const { data } = await pm.account.usage({ from: "2026-10-01", to: "2026-10-31" });
const sent = data.reduce((n, d) => n + d.emails_sent, 0);
const complained = data.reduce((n, d) => n + d.complained, 0);
console.log(`Complaint rate: ${((complained / sent) * 100).toFixed(3)}%`);curl "https://api.padimail.app/v1/usage?from=2026-10-01&to=2026-10-31" -H "Authorization: Bearer $PADIMAIL_API_KEY"Gmail, Yahoo and Outlook rules, in short
| Rule | What we do | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| SPF and DKIM pass | Set up when you verify your domain | Add the DNS records |
| DMARC record | Suggested in the domain setup | Publish one |
| One-click unsubscribe on bulk mail | Added to marketing-stream mail | Use the marketing stream for bulk mail |
| Spam complaints under 0.3% (aim for 0.1%) | Suppress complainers and brake at high rates | Send only to people who opted in |
When sending is paused
If bounces or complaints spike, sending pauses automatically to protect your domain's reputation and ours. You get an account.paused webhook and a banner in the dashboard explaining why. Remove the addresses or list that caused it, then resume from the dashboard.
